Hello Everyone,
The Handful have continued our curriculum at IIOP and started to get involved in the community through volunteering and fun events!
Since completing anatomy and physiology, we’ve deepened our knowledge by digging into the specifics of neuroanatomy and beginning to learn the various pathologies that we will encounter with patients as professionals. This clinically relevant work included conditions such as Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy, Spinal Cord injuries, Fractures, Pediatric, and many other conditions!
We’ve grown closer to our IIOP and greater Tampa Bay communities through events such as the Tampa Bay Lightning Hockey Game and volunteering with the Special Olympics. At the Lightning Game, we enjoyed good food, drinks, and company with our classmates, faculty, and other cohorts while watching a victory for Tampa! During the volunteer event with the Special Olympics, we learned how to use the Brannock device to measure and assess various foot types. It was educational and rewarding to interact with patients and other professionals and we concluded the day by receiving some goodies for our time!
Moving forward, we are about to take our midterm in pathology and continue growing our practical skills through our lab and clinical evaluation classes!
