Hello Everyone,
Our cohort, the Handful, has completed our first few weeks of grad school at IIOP and are excited to update everyone on the start of our journey!
After meeting our classmates, administrators, and instructors at orientation and getting up to speed on IIOP and how our program runs, we dove straight into anatomy and physiology! We began with a thorough examination of the upper body with specific attention paid to the muscles, nerves, and bony landmarks that will impact our patients as O&P clinicians. We have begun learning and improving our skills at palpating and collectively survived our first exam!
Outside of class, we were blessed with the opportunity to attend the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA) National Assembly in Orlando! During this conference, we took the opportunity to both meet new people and reconnect with old mentors in our field while absorbing knowledge from numerous panels, demonstrations, and exhibits. We hope to utilize these connections and experiences during both our time at IIOP and as we progress into our residencies!
Moving forward, we are working to complete our anatomy and physiology class and looking forward to moving deeper into our curriculum!
