The International Institute of Orthotics and Prosthetics (IIOP) offers an accelerated, hands-on pathway for licensed allied health professionals to become Certified Orthotic Assistants and/or Prosthetic Assistants.
Who is this Program For?
This program is designed for individuals who currently hold a nationally recognized certification AND are licensed in an allied health profession, including:
Medical Assistants
Athletic Trainers
Physical Therapists / Physical Therapist Assistants
Occupational Therapists / Occupational Therapy Assistants

Single Discipline
Orthotics OR Prosthetics
Complete in just one Semester
Dual Certification
Orthotics AND Prosthetics
Complete both in 2 Semesters
Hands-On, Career-Focused Training
Hybrid curriculum: On-campus instruction combined with online coursework
500 clinical hours per discipline at approved IIOP clinical sites
Real-world experience in orthotics and prosthetics clinics
Certification Eligibility
Upon successful completion of all required coursework and clinical hours, graduates are eligible to sit for:
ABC Orthotic Assistant Examination
ABC Prosthetic Assistant Examination

This program is designed for individuals who currently hold a nationally recognized certification AND are licensed in an allied health profession, including: MA, ATC, PTA, PT, OTA, OT

Each student will be required to complete the online didactic course work, completed independently through our online learning platform. Then the student will complete a 5-day in person training at IIOP in Tampa, FL and an additional 500 hours per discipline completed in O&P clinic or facility.

IIOP has O&P partners across the United States to help place you in an O&P clinic for your 500 hours per discipline, on-site training.

Each discipline has a total cost of $6,000 or dual registration for $12,000.
