Fall 2026 Orthotic Fitter Pre-Certification Course
$625
Live Course
7.5 Credits
May 16, 2026
This 8-hour live continuing education course focuses on the application of functional exercise and functional training within the scope of orthotic and prosthetic practice to improve patient outcomes, device tolerance, and real-world function. Participants will explore how functional exercise and task-specific training can be used as clinical tools to assess prosthetic and orthotic fit, alignment, loading patterns, safety, and skin integrity, rather than as isolated conditioning or rehabilitation interventions.
The course will clarify the distinction between functional exercise, functional training, and gait training as defined by the ABC Scope of Practice, with emphasis on how these activities are appropriately implemented in direct relation to orthotic or prosthetic care. Practical examples will include preparatory activities performed with and without the device, strategies to support early post-operative and pre-prosthetic patients, and training approaches for patients returning to activities of daily living, work, and physically demanding occupations.
Instruction will also address clinical decision-making, basic screening considerations (including vital signs and safety), and defensible documentation practices to support scope-aligned implementation. Case-based discussion, decision trees, and real-world documentation examples will be used to help participants confidently integrate functional exercise and functional training into everyday orthotic and prosthetic practice.
Certificate in O&P Exercise
Advanced Palpation & Clinical Assessment in O&P
$550
Live Course: 90 Days
7.75 Credits
This live continuing education course on June 13th 2026 is designed to enhance palpation accuracy, tissue discrimination, and clinical assessment skills for certified orthotists and prosthetists. The course moves beyond static landmark identification and emphasizes load-based, movement-integrated evaluation strategies to inform device design, component prescription, socket/interface modifications, and referral decisions.
Participants will review the neurophysiology of skilled touch, somatosensory integration, and motor-sensory coupling as foundations for advanced palpation. Instruction will focus on differentiating tissue types (contractile vs. non-contractile), identifying load intolerance patterns, assessing joint mobility and joint play, and residual limb tissue capacity.
Through structured lab sessions and case-based clinical reasoning exercises, attendees will integrate palpation findings into defensible clinical decisions. Emphasis is placed on distinguishing device-related mechanical problems from neuromuscular compensation patterns.
This course is hands-on and assessment-based, with direct application to orthotic and prosthetic patient management.

Limb Loss Rehabilitation Specialist Certification
$895
Live Course: 42 Days
The Limb Loss Rehabilitation Specialist (LLRS) Certification is a comprehensive continuing education program designed to advance the clinical competency of rehabilitation and prosthetic care professionals working with limb loss populations. This certification addresses the full continuum of limb loss rehabilitation — from post-operative wound care and residual limb management through prosthetic training, gait rehabilitation, exercise prescription, and return to high-level function.
Content spans lower and upper limb amputation across etiologies including vascular disease, trauma, and oncology. Learners develop evidence-based skills in examination, intervention planning, pain management, fall prevention, and interprofessional collaboration within amputee care teams. Each module integrates current research with clinical application, preparing clinicians to deliver specialist-level care to a medically complex and underserved population. The LLRS Certification is open to physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, prosthetists, orthotists, occupational therapists, and other qualified rehabilitation professionals seeking to formalize and deepen their expertise in limb loss care.
Classes will be held Friday June 5th through Saturday June 6th
